VaRedneck,
Nice choice of guns. A man needs to be very, very careful when expressing opinions on a man's choice of wife, dog or gun. I do not own a .223 AR, but was issued one in July 1965. It was a woodchuck cartridge adapted to conscript troops who would never become riflemen. I laugh when the 'talking heads" on national news rail against the wicked "Powerful weapon of war" when referring to the AR. Powerful (?) is not a fact regarding the .223. Actually in many states the .223 cartridge is below minimum caliber required for big game hunting. Thus the "powerful" moniker is merely news media bias, once again. Adam

Yeah, Adam. That recent story going around of some Chicago journalist getting his shoulder hurt because of the kick...getting ptsd afterward cause it was so loud....disoriented because of all the brass flying around....disgusting in it's patently false depiction.
Like you, Uncle Sam taught me it's do's and don'ts. I enjoy shooting these now almost as much as I enjoyed shooting a 16, 30yrs ago. Hard site...scope...red dot...don't matter, I love them all.

VaRedneck,
A few years ago I was privileged to buy a .222 Remington over 20 gauge Savage with a 4X scope for $100.00. I like the little stalking gun for farm use. I handload 55 grain bullets and it is a fine rifle/shotgun combo along with my .22 WMR over 20 gauge with iron sights. Adam

I like a story with a happy ending
Good choices. The AR platform serves many shooters very well. Shooters can handle it, hit with it and are not turned off by heavy recoil. At our monthly high power rifle matches, the ARs sweep the field and win the matches.
The Taurus in .45 ACP is a solid gun and will serve you well. Take care. All the best... Gil |
