Sounds interesting How did it perform on the birds? I'e been going to buy one of them things for years now but I keep thinking I do not really need it and would prolly get in trouble for thumping the nieghbors cats and dogs when they wonder in the yard and tear up the trash and torment my dog that I keep in a fence....... I've heard thos blunt wadcuttertype things really pack and thump but do not penetrate much if at all

i made a blowgun while away in college and living in the dorms over the summer. used a 3/4" aluminum tube and made darts from dowels, xacto blades; or long needles.
i got in trouble for it, they said the aluminum tube was considered a weapon because i could hit someone with it. i asked them about people with baseball bats in their dorm rooms. they said the bats were not weapons because they're intended for striking baseballs. blowguns weren't listed as being forbidden in the student handbook, but they were the following year. i lost a dart, it stuck in pretty deep in a high tree limb. i went back 3 years later and it was still there. |

blow gun hunting
i had a regular run of the mill blow gun back in college with regular
wire type darts. we were out on the front porch drinking beer one afternoon and i shot at a rabbit about 20 yards away. to all of our surprises, i hit it perfectly and it started rolling around and was dead by the time i got over to it. that was the first time we had grilled rabbit, and the last. wasn't bad, but not chicken. when i was younger on the farm i use to go out at nite in the hog shed and shoot sparrows with the same blow gun during winter. you could get to within 1-10 feet of them and it was an instant kill usually going through them and sticking them to the wood. i shot a pigeon once in a barn and it was pretty high up. i must admit that when it finally fell, i pulled (8) yes eight darts out of it. i miss my blowgun. |
