aarp

I belong to AARP but have never taken advantage of its services. Who belongs and do you find it beneficial?

I will not be a senior for twenty more years, but I have had several gun dealers and gun store owners tell me that aarp is for more gun control. I went and looked at one of their pages and they stated that they wanted stronger enforcement of the Brady Act.

When I reach the senior age I will look into their stand further, and if I feel at that time they are for gun control, I will not be a member of aarp.

I dont say this to put down anyone who choses to use aarp services. It's just my personal opinion.

Allen

The AARP is definately Anti-Gun.
I am of age,and they costantly send me letters, but I refuse to give them any of my money.
I don't need their services. Feel free to do as you see fit,for yourself.

They have many good benifits and guess I have not noticed any real strong push towards gun control. Tons of corporations we buy and sell to have a gun control stance if one looks deep into their past. This goes from pet stores, dog food companys to the vehicles we drive.
Just have to weight the alternatives and do what you feel is best.

Have belonged for more years than I care to remeber. Some years back they came out with some anti gun stuff. They got thier butts burned royally by a lot of members. I haven't seen anymore comeing out of them and I try to read all that they send.

Good things, my folks used the Medi care supplement insurance from them and were very satisfied.I don't because I'm a retired state employ and buy mine with that group. I have used the motel discounts a lot, but also get them from AAA & VFW. Just my 2 cents worth.

That's kind of the way I see it and have Never gotten any anti-gun-hunting-fishing or the like from them.
Guess when these young bucks get in our age they may see that there is a need for some of their services they would other wise have to go without. lol

AARP is heavy into gun-control. I wrote to them explaining my views on their stand. Got a letter back telling me that if I don't like where they send members money, that is not their problem.

Funny thing is, they keep sending me invitations to join.

David.

I am not a "young buck"........

They are anti-gun. That is fact. You can bury your head in the sand if you wish. You can get better pricing on Med-Sup insurance than they offer. The coverage is all the same by law, the only difference is price. You can also get much better deals on Rx drugs as well.

They are a left-wing lobby group. Make your own decisions. I have made mine.

I'm not a 'YoungBuck' either;I've been retired for 14 years.
But I worked for a company that provided Health Care benefits, and i don't need the AARP plan.
If you are not that fortunate, the AARP plan may be a good deal for you.
On the other hand,if you are only interested in discounts, you may be actually giving more then you are getting from them.

AARP is as anti-gun-ownership as any organization can be. In addition, the people who run it suit themselves, espousing positions they agree with, without regard the wishes of their membership. It has taken quite a while for most of their members to start getting wise, but many are now beginning to figure this out, and their membership is declining for this reason.

I continue to throw their crap in the garbage, just as I have been doing for the past 16 years!! There is no way ANY shooter or hunter should consider joining this outfit! Better to join the Brady Campaign or PETA!!

Well I will have to check on them as in all the stuff I have received over the years I guess I have not seen one mention of anti gun stuff in there.
Not saying they don't just that I would like to see something in print that states it.

I have tried to check on them but the only response I get is : We try to aid in legislative measures which we personally think to be in the best interest of seniors. This really tells me nothing

LOL

That is called the PC response Rubicon. It is specifically written to be vague, but broad. For instance, if they think anti-gun legislation will aid seniors because less seniors will get robbed at gun point, then it falls under that broad statement they sent you.

Don't know much about AARP, and I am too young to have to worry about retirement right now other than 401(k)'s and IRA's, so I won't be worrying about this for a little while.
