Hogzilla??

Check out this story. Note - I normally do not read or listen to the Clinton News Network, but they seemed to be the only ones with the story.

Hogzilla

Here's the picture:

Btw- the man is 6 foot tall.

There used to be a hog about the same size if not bigger than that on a ranch on the otherside of the highway, It was part domestic though. Someone nailed it with a car a month back or so, never did see the car that hit it, must've been bashed to all hell though after colliding into something roughly the same size as it. None the less, that is a big hog.
Matt.

The story bugs me. There's not enough detail to provide credibility. I have no doubt that this big guy was fed by people - whether as a wild hog or a domestic.

That is not a 1000 pounder, 800lbs maybe but no way is that a 1000lbs hog.

Something just doesn't smell right. Why would they bury the entire hog without having the department of natural resources look it over? Nothing about the gun used, distance shot at, or any witnesses that saw the hog while it was being hunted or after it was killed other than the plantation owner and guide who tend to benefit from the added exposure (i.e., everybody will want to hunt on that plantation now). Something just doesn't smell right.

I didn't buy one bit of it when it came out. That guy, for one, isn't standing next to it, appears to be a few feet back and down in that hole. Two, they claimed the head was too big to have mounted, BS. Been lots bigger game animals heads mounted! Buried it all right away? I'd a been showing that bad boy to someone! And they killed it so no one else would? Naw. Like you said TS, no details of none of it. That's just not the norm. The picture and the whole story reeks of BS. I can't believe no one is wanting some proof.

The proof may have rotted away by now or have been eaten

Cool National Geographic to the Rescue

The secret is out about Hogzilla. NG dug up the remains and had measurements and DNA tests performed. The hog measured about 8.5 feet long, just like the photo showed. The old boy swore when he measured it "ryte thar" it was 12 feet long. The experts estimated it weighed 800#. It was a big hog, but not as big as was claimed. Oh, the DNA showed it was a cross between a wild hog and a domestic one. Why they buried the thing instead of mounting the head (tusks were a full circle!) is still a question. He used a Browning auto to shoot it, caliber not mentioned.

Saw that last night too. It may not have been as big as they claim but that was still ONE BIG PIG!

If I would have got it I sure as heck would not have just buried it. I would at least had the skull mounted! Oh well who really can guess what a "redneck" will do

big pig

the story definitely stinks. the guy was just starting up a hog hunting operation.as a hunter ask yourself this question,"what is the best way to attract hunters/"a normal hunter would mount the thing and show it off.this guy said he did not mount it b ecause it was too big.i never heard of a mount being too big.if you bury it you can say anything.readers digest dug the hog up and tried to get a approc weight.it was loke only 700 lbs.you can hand a 400lb hog up like this and it looks like a monster.plus the guy in the pic is standing in a hole

Papi, where ya been? Readers Digest???? I would believe a drunk redneck before I believed anything they wrote!

It was all filmed by National Geographic, a bit more reliable than RD. Most of us saw the film and know how big the hog was. The show pretty much put the kabosh on the owner's story without calling him a liar. Who knows the motivation for the exaggerations or the "cover up"...
