Question wall tents

During the last 4 years, I experienced some camping with the outfitter-type wall tents. The inside frames are super for strength and ruggedness and these tents make great base camp shelters. I've had the urge for one but there are some problems. Ideally, you need several strong guys to erect and strike them. They are also heavy, bulky and expensive. I've passed on the tents since my personal hunting camps are lacking in manpower and transport space.

Does anyone know if medium-size wall tents (e.g., 10x12 or 12x14) are available in lighter fabrics that aren't so heavy and bulky? I still want the internal frame but don't need the sheepherder stove feature. Comments are welcome.

I have not used a wall tent since Boy Scouts. YOu might want to contact the local BSA Council and see whether they have any leads. Scout Camps might be anouther source for you to check with as they usually ste these tents up in the late Spring and leave them up all summer.

I'd guess hte BSA ones are probably 8x10 or so and htey use an internal ridge pole and/or tent poles.

Arrow light weight tents

Try Cabelas.
Any wall tent mfgr can do light weight but remember most light weight tent fabrics are synthetic and do not breath as canvas does and will hold condensate inside.

You can check out mine two posts down and might look a little ragged as it was just set up and not "sweeked" yet.
Works great and plenty of room and little wood burner keeps it nice and warm.
