T/C overrated?

I bought a t/c blackdiamond
It shoots allright but i think that it was way overpriced
I payed 300$ for just the rifle without a scope
My dad has a Tradition Buckhunter muzzleloader and i like it as much as the black diamond
They both shoot the same at all ranges
I think when i bought the Blackdiamond i was only paying the extra 150$ towards the T/C name

You paid too much. For seven months, Bass Pro Shop ran the Black Diamond XR camo for $199. Once you find the proper load combo, you'll shoot just as well as your buddy's Traditions. Plus, your warranty is "full transferable lifetime". You don't need a store receipt or barrel serial number to replace a part you abused 15 years from now. You can sell that rifle to three different people.... the 3rd guy gets to continue the lifetime warranty with no receipts or serial numbersd needed. You won't find anything close to that with Traditions warranty... believe me... I own three Tradition guns. You also get better resale value than Traditions -- plus confidence knowing your American steel on that barrel has been tested to double the pressures of Spanish barrels on your buddy's Traditions.

I would say even though you didnt get a sale price...you did fine by getting a very nice muzzleloader that will last a lifetime if taken care of...now about overrated thats not a knight rifle right????

over rated, definetely not, that one was over priced, i am still so impressed with being able to pick a part of the 2" bullseye at 100 yds, that i cant call my omega over rated and being that i got it on sale at walmart when i worked there with the discount for employees not overpriced either.
not to go off on a tangent but i do the knights are overrated. i cant believe that such a top company cant manage to get away from the need to use those stupid plastic things to put the primers in, what a waste of time and money! otherwise nice guns though

Overrated,underrated,overpriced,junk,great....Whatever.
Any gun out there right now is worth whatever you are willing to pay. They are all safe,reasonably accurate and worth the money.

here is the deal...Its like arguing Dodge versus Ford versus Chevy...Its a no-winner. Ya find what you like for the money you want to spend and if the damn thing goes BANG when you squeeze the trigger, you win.

I have a $150 H&R 1871 muzzle loader that uses disc primers. My buddy has a $500 T/C encore. I carry 4 loaded discs and 4 speed loaders with 245gr Powerbelts.He carries his primers separate and has to slip a 209 on a nipple in cold weather with gloves on. I can load faster than him and shoot it just as good.
In a beauty contest, he wins, hands down. His weapon is GORGEOUS! Does his venison taste any better than mine? Not a shot in hell.

Live and learn. Go with what you like and dont let expensive commercials sell you.

I own a Black Diamond and haven't had a problem with it. If you think the Black Diamond is a piece of crap, why would you buy another T/C product?

If I had a piece of crap Chevy Cavalier that had reliability issues and a speedometer that wasn't close to being accurate, I sure wouldn't rush out and buy a Chevy Corvette. Of course, we all know that Ford doesn't make any piece of crap products.

the Omega is 10 times better than a blackdiamond. I know at least 4 guys who have had trouble with their blackdiamonds. I believe its just the blackdiamond that has the problems out of all the t/c products. I love my omega though.

I have had two of these rifles and liked them both.What problems are you talking about,could just be the owner(shooter).
I also have an Encore and do not find it difficult at all to clean,shoot or load,certainly no trouble to pop the primer in and with the new ejector really helps with the cleaning.

The problems im talking about are trigger mechanisms not firing front sights falling off and hang fires.

I don't own one but know a few that do without problems.

Not to get in a P___ing match with you Td0g900 but,
hang fires from this gun sound more like a problem of not getting the breach or nipple cleaned out rather than a gun malfunction.
As far as the trigger mechanism goes maybe you got a bad one. Did you contact T/C about the problem you have?
Maybe a little Lok-Tite would help on that front site.

By the way, I own one of those "overrated Knights" and love it! That doesn't mean I wouldn't consider a T/C if I eventually buy another ML. I do like the way the Encores and Omegas are designed and the ease of cleaning.

Cleaning the Black Diamond isn't really that hard if you know a single trick.

I unscrew the back of the gun where the spring, which propels the bolt, is located and I take out the spring and the bolt. After that, I put a 12 or 13 mm socket wrench (can't remember exactly what size) into where the bolt goes and I unscrew the nipple. After that, I can clean the barrel out pretty easily and I can make sure the nipple is extremely clean. Probably takes me about 30 minutes to really clean the gun out great. Of course, I can always do the field/speed cleanup by just running a patch down the barrel, but that doesn't get the gun squeeky clean.

The only problem I have ever had with my Black Diamond is a little bit of rust where the metal meets the synthetic stock, but it really isn't too bad. I just happen to be extremely picky.
