Leupold VX-1 ???
Was looking at the Leupold VX-1 Shotgun scopes for a slug gun. Anybody have any experience with these? Would appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks!

VariX
If you have to have a Leupold get a VariX II in 1X4. Better and clearer.. If you want more power 2X7 is plenty

I`ve never had a Vari Xl, but I do have over 30 Leupold scopes. I`ve got fixed power, Vari Xll`s and Vari Xlll`s. There is no doubt about it, the more you spend on a Leupold scope the more you get. That said, if your going to scope a shotgun that you will carry 5 day a year I would think that the Vari Xl would do all you need on a shotgun. The Vari Xl still has the same warranty has the higher priced scopes. I hear Leupold has excellant service, but I bought my first Leupold in 1968 and over the years I`ve collected quite a pile of them. BUT, to this day I`ve never had to send one back for repair.

Thanks Fellas
I would probably only be toting this slug gun out a couple of times a season hence the reason for the VX-1. I do own other Leupold optics and am familiar with their product quality as well. I am admittedly not familiar with the VX-1 line of offerings but as you stated Catfish-carries the same warranty as their higher-end offerings.

From what I read the Vari Xl is the old Vari Xll without the lens coatings. Ie probibly not quite as good of lite transfer.
