New barrel?

Boyd,

I want to put a 30" barrel on the 30-378 and I thought i would come straight to you with advice on which barrel taper, twist rate ect. and barrel to use? any in put would be appreciated. the intended use would be LR hunting.

If it were me for a carry type gun(under 15 pounds) I would get a Broughton 10 twist in the PA 1000 Yard Light gun taper.I would then have the chamber cut for 210gr JLK bullets.Don't use the Berger 210's.....They will not hold together at 30-378 velocitys.But thats just me

Off we go!

the sako 30-378 is going out on monday to the gunsmith! to be fitted with a new 30 " broughton SS 10 twist . in the PA 1000 yard light gun tapper, thanks to boyds help!!!!!. cant wait to get it back and fired up!!!!

Its back!

The 30-378 has returned! we ended up doing things a little different but the out come was awsome! The barrel is a 30" Broughton that ended up having a custom taper made to fit the gun. The finish on the barrel is very unique! it called snake skin! I am waiting on rings and cant wait to get shooting!

Wicked looking barrel! If it shoots as good as it looks you won't have any problems

update on 30-378

thought i would do an update on the new barrel set up. rings - burris extreme tactical base - Near mfg. 25 moa for sako scope - burris black diamond 6-24

this thing is amazing and that is an understatement it shoots and the more it shoots the better it gets its doing .2s at 100 with 200gr accubonds @ 3425 fps

here is a LR rock killing shoot we killed them all to! ranges to 880.

any time ! Kill that big deer this year and send it this way!

we still need to do that LR hunt! I am checking a new spot in Nebraska this fall. i will let you know !
