Sightron scopes?
Im considering a new scope for a Remington 673 that is on order.. Im a Burris follower..but have seen a bunch on the Sightron brand of optics.Anyone give the me the good/bad on their product?? Thanks for the input.

The best part of Sightron are the adjustments -- very precise, consistent and repeatable. Glass is better than average. I like mine, but I wish I'd paid the extra money and got "great" glass.
Then again, I wish that for all my scopes.... FWIW, Dutch.

Ken I have been looking into them myself. Everybody I have met that has one loves it, and I myself REALLY liked my brother in laws scope.

My last scope purchase was a Sightron SII 3-9x40. It
cost me less than $200 and worked perfectly for my newest rifle. My decision was influenced by doing some searching on the net, since I didn't know of anyone who personally owned a Sightron. You might want to check out www.chuckhawks.com. With a little searching on that sight, you should be able to find a review written by Randy Wakeman called "Scoping it Out." There are also several reviews by Chuck Hawks on Sightron products. Another site that I found useful was www.shortmags.org, where there is a "guides" section that includes scopes. As for me, personally, it's a little too early for me to formulate an opinion on durability. The optics are very nice, for sure. The scope has thus far survived a mule deer hunt and an elk hunt without a hitch, but then, I'd expect that from any scope!

I am very impressed with the Sightron I bought a year ago. I zeroed it and haven't touched the settings for a year. I carry it atop my Tikka T3 behind the seat of my truck from October to April and have killed 6 coyotes this winter on my way to and from work. I take it out to target shoot and it's right there everytime. I bought the SII 4-16X42 Mil-dot - $360

I have several Sightron scopes, and I love them. I prefer the SII's over the Leupold VXII's. I didn't really like the SI sightron though. As far as there customer service, it is great. I have not had to use their warranty yet, but it is better than any other scope warranty I have heard of. The place I bought a few of mine said that if it ever breaks, bring it back in and they will do a one for one exchange on the spot for a new one, this way I wouldn't have to mess with sending it in etc. like most manufactures.

I have one SII that I bought about 5 years ago and now just sits on a .22. The scope is good enough quality though to sit on a bigger rifle, just don't have an extra one now without a good scope on it. My hunting partner has SII scopes on all of his rifles now and has had for the last six or seven years. He got some pretty cheap before they were a common name in the industry. To this point he has not had a single malfunction nor has he had to make a single adjustments from season to season. He's been extremely happy with the durability and overall quality. I'd say that their adjustment system, durability and warranty are tough to beat and in their class so is their price. Certainly is better glass out there but at a much higher price too. Good luck.
