Question Remington 1100 ?

I was looking at getting a O/U for sporting clays but I ran across what looks like a good deal. I am not familiar with semi auto shotguns that much. Every semi I have shot has been a 31/2" waterfowl gun.

I went to a pawn shop and they have a Reminton 1100 that is a 2 3/4" only. It has a matte black finish and synthetic stock. The reciever has a pattern on the side. the pattern is not engraved but I guess it was cast or machined whatever process created the reciever. It has hardly been shot at all the edges of the action are still black and there is no wear patterns on the bolt or inside of the reciever. No scratches on the gun anywhere.

I assume this is a slightly older model since I could not fin it on the Remington website. They are asking $259.00 this looks like a good deal but is anyone out there more familiar with this shotgun and its value.

1100

The ol 1100 is a pretty good bun gor shooting clay birds. Does it have screw chokes? If not what is the choke on the bbl? If you keep the 1100 clean they are a pretty good gun. I own about 10-12 and wouldn't have them if they were junk gunsSounds like a pretty good deal if you don't mind the phosphate finish. The find out if it has been used much take the bbl off and check the magazine tube. If it has been shot much that is where you'll see the wear... on the mag tube. If it has scew chokes 259 is a good price. Ask if he'll take 250 with the tax included. He wants to move that gun.

Sounds like someone put a synthetic stock on a 1100 to me.

Most 1100's came with wood furniture as far as I knew.

They are great guns, everyone I used to hunt with had 1100's and all of them are great guns

I'll tell you right off that the model 1100 Remington was voted the best semi-auto of the last half of the past century~!!!

I bought my first 1100 Remington years ago and today own 4 of them in various gauges and barrel lengths. I love the 26 inch barrels on the Upland Game model for hunting quail in a 20 gauge.

I have never seen a model 1100 in a plastic stock~!

If it doesn't have screw in chokes, it is of older origin. You can have "Ballistic Specialists" in Arkansas make you a set of chokes for the shotgun and they will screw in perfectly straight. Many are not so straight even from the factory.

Get it

If you can get an 1100 for that price jump on it. I have 1 my mom bought my dad when they got married, bout 30 years ago. 12 gauge 2&3/4 with a modified barrel. I have killed everything from Squirrels to deer with mine, ducks and dove included. Keep it clean and boil the trigger and you will be well satisfied with it. No problem killing deer 75 yards with number 1 buckshot. Cheapest i've found is 300 dollars, wantin to get another so i can put dads up for my daughter.

Not a bad price

Sounds like someone put on a synthetic stock so I would offer $200 for ther gun "as is". Then invest in a replacement wooden stock and forearm. Right now, I oun quite a few 1100s and they are great guns. All the best...

Remington does indeed make a synthetic stocked/matt finished 1100, but.....
It is not the same quality as the wood/blued model. We had used these as range guns at range I had worked at only because of the price. We also never had one that didn't need to be tweaked in some fashion either to function or shoot where it was supposed to. If you plan on doing alot of shooting you can pretty much think about rebuilding the gun around 12,000 rounds and cutting it up for scrap at around 30,000 rounds
Spend the extra and get the original wood stocked 1100 which are fine guns.
