Question Saw an 8 point buck today

Took a walk this morning, about 5 miles worth. Went through some of the best deer and coyote cover in this area. I always carry a rifle incase I see something that needs to be dead, but nothing today. Saw squirrel, rabbits and deer, which I expected to see, but what I did not expect was to see an 8 point buck still wearing his rack. I have seen bucks that have lost their racks in early Jan., but I think this is the latest I`ve ever seen one still wearing a rack.

Catfish, about 3 nights ago, there was a 6 point buck in my back yard. I was astonished that he still had a rack this late in the year- I too have never seen a rack this late.

It is funny that you guys should bring this up. I almost wrecked my car over last weekend because I saw a buck with antlers still on it. I was amazed that it still had antlers in March. I was going to post about it, but completely forgot. I guess it isn't too unheard of.

Question

I have heard the ODNR on my Scanner talking about still seeing rack's on the buck's. It may be weather related too ? Its been a weird year thats for sure.

A guy that I work with has about 60 whitetails 20 or so of which are bucks. I asked if they have all shed out and he told me all the larger bucks have but some of the smaller bucks still have their antlers. He says that is normal and that once in a while one will even make it to April.
