17hmr Sweet
The 17HMR is the sweetest little gun I've shot. Extremly accurate and just plain fun to play with. This would be I think the perfect gun to get started with. It's so easy to shoot for the beginer, and It's target hitting ability could get any younster male or female hooked on shooting. My daughter shot mine at 50 yards for the first time and got a bullseye, boy was she impressed.Cheap fun, go have some.If you own one how do you like it.Ken. Here is a little clip of 17HMR hitting a coke can full of water @ 30 yards, enjoy.

I love both of mine. I have both the HMR and the M2. I just picked up the M2 about 2 weeks ago from Gander Mountain since they were running a sweet deal on it. $189 917v with 10 boxes of ammo. Right now I only have a red dot on it, waiting to get my Mueller to arrive in the mail this week. I also have two after market stocks coming as well. They do wonders on the birds

JR, Yeah that video is cool. I guess I'll have to set some pop cans up for long range shooting. Right now I mainly use my HMR since I have a scope on it. Makes it easy to shoot at birds around a 100yards or so. My buddy who also has the same M2 as me has a 3-9 on his and he does well on shooting birds long range. I know one of the crackles he shot up in the pine tree about 30 yards and had half his body gone. I'll post some pictures hopefully of my two stocks coming in this weekend. I believe I'm trading one of my stocks off though to my buddy who has the M2 since he doesn't have a credit card to order one. Stock + $150 for a nice .45. Not a bad deal Our next outting is on thursday morning, going to shoot all day long. Hopefully my Mueller will be in as well.
How far have you shoot your HMR out too? |

I love my HMR as well... I have done the coke can trick, which btw was done at only 25yrds, its not as spectacular at 100 (tried it)
I use my on gophers all summer, my furthest confirmed kill was at 180+ yards. I hope to bring that to 200yrds this summer, but we will see.

Hey guys I made a nice shot on a crackle out to 75 yards and I got a skunk out to 75 yards nice job.I got a bunch of jacks this winter just not with the 17 I can't wait I brought it out with me,all shots were 250+yards.Within the next month after snow melts I'll try it on ground hogs at no more then 100 yards to start,I figure. You think it'll work on hogs.I was in Brooks Alta. last summer and I wished I had my17 I ended up borrowing a friends 22LR took my boys out shooting goghers

I fell in love with mine the first time i shot it. We made some targets for the 300's, i guess you'd callem heavy duty plinkers, anyway at a 100 yards knocked the biggest and heaviest of the 3 half way around. In love with it.

I have the marlin 17v in heavy barrel. Awesome little bullet. I've killed quite a few squirrels with it. Pretty challenging because its accurate but if you want any meat you have to make head shots. Lucked up last summer and killed a crow way out there. At least 200 yards. Held high. the crow layed his wings out thought i missed him. Then he jumped onto a low tree. after about another minute as i got there he fell. Down here we have nutras. They are about the size of groundhogs. They destroy marsh and resemble large rats. (maybe 10-15 pounds) Out in the marsh you can take shots out to 600 yards. Its ideal because you can see the bullet hit the water and adjust your aim. I'm yet to try it for this but hopefully will this summer. We've hit them with 22s at 200 but it just surprises them. Airboat, 25 round clip,a thousand rounds, and for your work 3 dollars per nutra.

Nutras sounds like a lot a fun.never been on an air boat, must be a blast in it's self.I did the pop can trick yesterday it worked just like the video I attached at the begining. Both at 30 yards and at 60 yards. At thirty yards the lid was blown clean off.

Sure is, JackRabbit!
It shoots 1" or less, if I do my part. The G2 Contender trigger is aufull. I gota get it fixed one of these days. Not only is the accuracy great, but it is only around 100f.p.s. slower than a rifle. I used to knock down the far centerfire ram, when shooting shilouette. It didnt make the guys who load .44mag for shilouette happy . They sure did get themselfs a .17HMR barrel though. The longest game shot was a treerat at 87y. Not bad for a handgun! I know I can do better, but I was buisy all hunting season . I also turned a cotontail into a mess of "chunky salsa" at 25y. I also noticed that the groups will shrink after 75rds, with a sweetspot between 100-200rds between barrel cleaning. I used the thing nonstop, all spring - fall of lastyear!
