early spring fishing

I'm not much of a cold weather fisherman but this year i'm wanting to get out early so I'm willing to give it a try.
Any hints on cold water catfishing? Frost is out and it snowed last night but should be getting warmer soon. River seems stable,no heavy spring rains yet.

I've never walleye fished but have heard they catch some near a local river damn.Whats a good, from the bank or atop the damn walleye rig? Pretty fast water.

Erie Dearie...heavy lead head with an inline spinner blade behind, one long shank hook behind that. Thread a night crawler onto the hook, leave a long "tail end" of the night crawler. Fish it pretty slow and deep. Good luck!!!
