New Lee collet die
While attempting to re-size some virgin Win brass for my 222, runout was a real problem. In fact, the Win brass was crappy out of the bag. Not as bad as remmy brass though.
While using an RCBS neck-sizer, runout varied from 004 to 008. Have been wanting a Redding bushing die but Cabela's doesn't carry that part of the Redding product line. But they do have the Lee Collet die which I have heard good things about. And is much more reasonable in price. Since we had bonus points leftover at Cabela's, a road trip was in order. Glad I bought one. Runout was minimized immediately. While at the range last Sunday I noticed some fluctuations in velocity and attribute that to not having the "feel" for the amount of neck tension to apply. Powder is metered thru the RCBS dispenser and elec. scale. Anyone else use one? And how consistent can you get the neck tension? I know I'm gonna get scolded for this but I tried some VARGET in the Deuce. Would you believe 3100fps with 50gr red prairie HP's and both 205M and WSM primers? Accuracy in the 3/8" dept if I do my part. More testing to follow. Allen

Skinny,
I have use that die and didn`t like it. BUT, I DON`T LIKE ANY THING LEE MAKES. That said you can get the die to work if you set it properly. You want to set the die so that the press handle cams over with a fair amount of resistance. If you do not set it to cam over you`ll never be able to to get consistant bullet pull. With alittle playing you`ll have no trouble getting it set, and it will probibly do what you want.

Thanks Catfish.
Lee's instructions state to not have it cam over due to wrecking the die. But, I lean towards your idea though in moderation. I'll try it out.

You don`t have to have it cam over hard, just enough that you can feel alittle resistance. Without that resistance you have no way to really tell how much presure your putting on the case neck.
