Question Savage calibers

"Ya ever notice..........(imagine Andy Rooneys voice).....the Savage rifle company, doesn't seem to make rifles chambered in .250 and .300 Savage?"

Yup. Darn shame, too.

I'd love one of their new Model 14s (VERY classic looking!) in a 250.

Well Rock, that was my point, I would really like a rifle in both .250 and .300 Savage.

I think it's kind of morbid to go outside the Savage Inc to get their calibers

Nods it is sad jon, but on the happy side, it gives me more reason to love my M99 .300 savage

I'd love to find a 250-3000 in decent condition, that wasen't priced through the roof, but haven't seen one in ages.

You'd think they'd listen,as those same comments are made all the time.

A few years ago, i was at a gunshow, cant remember if it was tulsa or dallas and one of the savage factory reps was there.

Got to sit in and listen for abit, and probably every 2nd question from _everyone_ he talked to was either askign about new chamberings in 250-3000, or .300 savage.

They know there's an interest in it, just boggles me why the only place you can get them is from either the custom shop, or the used rack.

I suspect it's their marketing.

Savage makes great products, but I don't think a lot of hardcore shooters buy them. I think they stick to "better" brands like Remington and Weatherby and the likes.
Where Savage shines is the weekend hunter buys them in standard calibers and ammo can be bought cheaply at walmart or kmart.

Savage is making those heavy barrel / laminate stock guns so I think there are trying to produce a nice looking, performing gun that some economical benchrest shooters could buy.
