Rebarreling to a 260AI or a 6.5-284
I want to rebarrel to a .264. Thinking of going to either a 260Rem AI or a 6.5-284. I know the 260AI will work and feed through the action, as I have 243 AI; 25-08AI and 78-08AI, and standard 22-250 and 308 barrels.
I wanted to go with the 6.5-284 but do not want to alter the feed railings. Has anyone re-barreled a REM 700 BDL for 6.5-284 and what feeding problems did you have. Thanks |

Talk to bigbrother. He built his 6.5-284 off of a Rem 700 ADL short action.
I know it's a one shot gun, but that's b/c he used his old .243 short action. His gun is a REAL shooter though.

6.5-284
My 6-284 is built on a Rem long action to max powder capacity and bullet seating options. It did not require any feed rail work.

Dear BRad,
Have done several on the 700[long] action and never needed to make any adjustment for feeding. All fed fine. Great shooters too! Aloha, Mark |

Badshot10,
Take a close look at the 6.5x284 and compare the shooter stats carefully to the 260. I think you will end up with the 260. I am a 6.5 nut and was going to build a 6.5x284 on my second to the last action. I looked at the stats closely and built two more 260s. Ed
