				Savage Model 19

I have been considering for quite a while purchasing a Hornet rifle, and I read in a recent thread about the Savage model 19 in .22 Hornet. From what I have read, it sounds like a dandy rifle, and it sounds like it is in my price range (cheap!) However, it sounds like they are older rifles, and I have heard that Hornet rifles built before 1960 had a .223 bore diameter, while the ones built after have a .224 bore diameter. From what I understand, these model 19s are pre '60 guns, and therefore have the tighter bore. Can I still use the .224 bullets? I was thinking something along the lines of a Calhoon 30 or 37 grain load. Also, would this gun lend itself well to being made into a K-Hornet? Oh, one more thing - I have a .17 HMR, and it will kill ground squirrels beautifully, which is what I would use the Hornet for. Do I need a Hornet for longer shots (100yds plus), or am I good with the .17?
