DC001 kenai mountain caribou

Ok a buddy lucked out and got one, now he needs all the info he can get, heard you can do this on a mountain bike, or also heard since this hunt goes into Dec if there is enough snow fall a person can do this on snowmachine. Were is a good place to start, or head in at, what about black bears if I tag along few or bunches thanks Steve

black bears should be plentyful. that is the indian creek / reserection trail hunt if i recall very tough access. yes snow machines can be used.....if enough snow and you don't get to make that decision, feds do on wildlife refuge and i think nat. forest makes that call on reser. trail. can be very iffy. hike and horses are what you can depend on. mtn bike can get you in part way then hike up and over the mtn to where they usually are.
mystery creek trail is usually open and you can drive in and approach indian creek from below. many many years (?25 ? ) ago i moose hunted off mystery creek road. there was a fire break that a mtn bike could be ridden on if the refuge allows it but i bet they don't and i don't know if there is a fire break that would help.
if you hike in the packing meat out will be no picnic....at least two good pack loads to get a 'bou out most likely. and then a trip for your camp.

good luck, if you go with him he has a very good friend, indeed.
a friend of mine drew that tag last year with 2 other tags. that was the tag he did not hunt.
