Truck Project (Need help)

Ok here is the deal. My Great Grandfather use to have a wooden "cage" That sat on top of his bed rails he used for hauling everything from hogs to feed. Basically it consisted of the left and right side, with a single 2x4 across the top at the front, and a gate that went from the top of the tailgate to the top of the sides. The whole thing was about as tall as the cab of his truck. I don't know the proper term for this darned project, and it is startin' to tick me off because if I search for wood and beds I find custom shops wanting to rebuild my bed for me, if I search for slat side I wind up either on pages for beds (like you sleep on at night) or for 1950's flatbed trucks with slat side rails on them. . . . . . Somebody help a redneck out would ya? I just need to haul about 400 million tons of crap of the next six months and I need to build this darned thing.

Thanks

GoodOlBoy

Unfortunantly I have the V6 so no trailer :P

Yup my sister is moving soon and I hope to get this bugger finished before then. Not to mention all the OTHER stuff I need to hall.

Caint raise no sheep in Texas! This is cow country, and I done more than my fair share of razin' the sheepheaders when I was growin' up!

Anyway Looking at Nubians, but I also spotted a type of goat I didn't recognize that I would like to get ahold of. It's a tan colored goat with a black stripe along either side of its belly.

We would be selling for meat, not for milk btw.

I have helped out at the Tompkins sheep sale in Tompkins Sask. it is one of the largest sheep sales in Western Canada.

Sheep are far easier to work that stupid goats

A fellow I know make as much money from his 150 head heard of goats as he does with his 75 head of cows(Purebread Red Angus)

He has mostly Boer(SP??)goats

These stupid things: http://www.abga.org/

Yup Boar's are good and bring premium prices, problem is they only bring premium prices at the auctions, and with Texas temps you have to keep them sheared. Thats why I am trying to stick with shorthair breeds. Also the Mexicans around us will buy meat goats directly from you (in fact only 3% of the current demand for goat meat is being met in the state of Texas)

Cow prices have gone through the floor (unless you are at the supermarket) Pigs have not done worth a dang since the '80s, and sheep have some of the same problems long haired goats do. Plus no matter what I buy I will need to buy a mule, the coyotes, wolves, and wild dogs have gotten so bad that they are killing calves faster than the ranchers can kill them.
