The prices of surplus arms

I was in a gun shop last week that has many surplus arms on display. The hang tag prices were a caution and nearly caused me to have chest pains. A WWI German 8mm rifle in NRA good condition and non-matching numbers was priced at $400.00. I bought one in better condition a few years ago that was matching for $80.00.

Are you folks seeing stiff inflation of surplus arms prices? All the best...

Gil,

Yes, the prices of surplus arms keep going up as the volume of guns for sale keeps dropping. We got spoiled by seeing piles of nice surplus guns in the 1960s at good prices.

Occasionally I find a good buy from an old collector who is nearing the end of his collecting days, or from an estate sale by a next-of-kin.

1905 Ross

I chatted with folks at a local gun shop today and they got in a Bubba'd 1905 Ross with a dark bore. The hang tag price was $295.00 and My response was good luck. Sure glad I paid $85 for an original with a mint bore. All the best...
