Got a new gun

I'm on my way home from afghanistan and I finally bought a new gun. Bought a rem. 700 BDL 300 Rum. I'm fixin to buy a Burris scope for it and hopefully some new binoculars. Since this gun is new in box, what kind of custom work do you possibly suggest I should have done, if any at all?

The only thing you should have to do to your new rifle is to adjust the trigger pull. You can do that yourself. Just drop the barreled action out of the stock and you will find 2 screws on the trigger. One is for weight of pull and the other for lenth of pull. You cannot mess them up to the point that they can be set by someone that has done it befor, so give it a try, it not hard.
As for a Burrius scope I`ve owned 2 of them and neather of them were right. I use only Leupold scope and have around 30 of them. I bought my first one in 1968 and it went through a car wreck and got banged up and gouged pretty bad, but it still works like a new one. The price difference isn`t much and even the cheap Leo`s are far better than the Burrius from what I`ve seen of them.
