BOW BOW,

Welcome to the Forum. I assume you are going to hunt deer with that 70 grain charge of Pyrodex (RS?) and round ball. You should do alright to 70 yards, if you place your shot well.

Bow Bow

Is your rifle a flintlock or percussion? I agree with Adam, you should do well at the range you mentioned. All the best...

It'a percussion .in 50 cal.been shuttin patch and ball .with 70 grns.pyrodex. a friend of mine suggested to try t/c maxi hunter 350 grns with about 80 to100 grns of powder what do you think, hopefully il be ready for this fall . trying to keep it traditional.as i can.

BOW BOW,

A .50 caliber Maxi and 90 grains of 2F Goex, or the same VOLUME of Pyrodex RS, is my accurcy load in my .50 Hawken. Going to the 350 grain maxi will double your payload and give you about twice as much muzzle energy compared to the roundball.
