Win 94 or Marlin 336???

Which one is better. I've only owned a Marlin, no experience with the Wichester. Can you put a peep sight on the Winchester 94?

i'd say which ever feels better in your hands. both make great guns. marlin feels more solid around the lever/grip area. i've heard they are stronger aswell. i prefer the feel of the marlin but if you went just by looks, the winchester gets the nod.

I think the Marlins are better gun, but I`m sure that alot of people disagree with. Both do the job and it boils down mostly to preferance.

It depends

I have both and like them. The Marlin has a solid top receiver, side ejection and seems to be a bit easier to mount a scope. I agree with these folks, it depends on what you prefer handles well. All the best...

My grandfather owned a 94, as did several of my uncles. I have use them on several hunting trips, and shot them rather extensively. I bought a Marlin 336. Easier to mount a scope or a peep sight, stronger action. I liked the integrated pistol grip better than the straight stock of the winchester. I also had some problems jamming shells in the action of the winchester, but maybe I'm unlucky or stupid (perhaps a little of both?).

You can put a peep on either rifle.
You could always scope a 336 easily, and on the newer 94's, you can scope them easily, too.
The Marlin is a bit heavier, and has a pistol grip. The 94 is a bit lighter, has a slightly slimmer receiver, and in most models has a straight grip.
Flip a coin
Or, better yet, handle both and buy the one that feels best. There's no wrong choice here.

My vote is for the Marlin. Just for their customer service.

I have a 94Win myself, but it was made in the 40's. When Winchester made a very high quality product.

My father has been using his Marlin since the mid 70's. He abuses the living heck out of firearms. Last year, he had his Marlin returned to the factory. They even fixed problems he didn't have issues with.
