do you like haveing more than one rifle that does the same thing?
I do.
i have my 2506 for all around hunting plinking everyday kinda fun stuff. this rifles got 4.5-14 glass and seems to work exseptionaly well everywhere. the 270 has turned into strickly hunting rifle and sees use a few months out of the year. i currently have it set up as moderate range rig with 4-16 glass and a 2lb trigger that i like alot. kinda think of it as my high mtn mulye getter. then the the 3006. its got a 3-9 x40 and is kinda the all arounder down and dirty what i take when its nasty out or when theres lots of high mtn hiking envolved. wich there always is where i hunt. the rifle is synthetic and stainles. with a low glare sandblasted finish that works great in the sparkly sunlight. i also now currently have two strickly smaller varmiting rifles. coyote and smaller kinda stuff. a 220 with a small target dot in the 6-18 power range. this is more my lazer beam put the bullets right where the dot is kinda rifle and i kinda think of it as a more favorable wether rifle, due to not being able to see the dot in low light conditions or heavy shadows. but have managed to take a few rabbits past sundown at exstended ranges on 6 power with the dot scope. then 22/250, it has the same 6-18 scope but a fine duplex that i can see in all of but the dimmest light conditions. this rifle i think will be my more all around varmit rig ounce i get it going. that makes 5 rifles. i could cut them down to 2 and still get all the same jobs acomplished. but what kinda fun would that be?. i love deer and elk rifles, needed a few. and ive got a thing for varmit rigs so i needed a few of those aswell. its also kinda fun trying to keep up with reloading all of em. wich ive never been able to get under control ![]() Evan |

I have the same problem, but even worse. I tend to get a rifle or pistol I like, have it for years and then trade it in for something else that does the same job. I end up trying to get the old gun model back, after I lost out on trade in value and or buying it all over again new and paying more. Examples; the several .357 and .44 mags I've owned, .22 rimfires, 30'06 and 30/30, Rem 1100, Rem 870...

Seems to me there's no such thing as 'too many rifles'.....
I mostly hunt whitetails- have 5 or 6 whitetail rifles, and ya never know when I'm gonna see another one I need......

No such thing as too much money, too handsome or too many guns. At last count I was loading 18 different cartridges.

I'm a victim of this with varmint rifles. I have a .17Rem., .222Rem. (2), .222Rem. Mag., .22-250, .243Win., and 6mm Rem. and use them all for the same thing, hunting woodchuck. The only difference is their ranges. To me they all serve the same purpose. I'm not sure it's not some type of disease. Best wishes.

Hi All,
Just about all my rifles overlap except possibly the smallest CF which is .22 Rem and the largest which is .458 Win Mag. However when I have three .270 Win chambered rifles, two in 6.5x55SE I suppose I am guilty as charged ![]() Currently I have the following cartiridges in my line up :- .22 R/f .222 Rem 6mm Rem 6.5x53R 6.5x54MS 6.5x55SE .270 Win 7x57mm 7.5x53.5 Swiss .308 Win 30-06 Springfield .303 British 7.92mm (8x57mm) 8x56Rmm 9.3x57mm .458 WM Oh well I think that's the lot ![]()

Just don't fall into the habit of filling in the blanks so to speak. That can really get expensive. You may have a .243 and a .30-06 and decide you should have something in between them so possibly you opt for a nice .260 but then discover that there's a big gap between .260 and .30 caliber. Maybe a .28caliber would make your collection complete so you choose a 7mm (28 caliber).
You can ultimately end up with one of almost everything. At some point you'll thank your lucky stars that there's really no .23 or .29 calibers to entice you. It's one way to grow a collection, but boy it does get expensive. I started with one rifle to hunt deer. At last count I was up to 22 rifles and still going, There's no kind of anonymous group to help us either. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal |

In a word, yes. Every time I get ready to go out I am faced with a choice on which "hunting buddy" to take along. For the most part, I try to choose guns that fill a needed niche, although it's difficult to pass up a good deal when you find one.

They all do the same thing. But yes...........For shooting prairie dogs you need several to allow cooling time. For hunting depends on whether I am carryin or sittin. I hunt with my son so we need several of everything .........or 'thats my story' anyway.
