GoodOlBoy,
Is that Lyman Plains pistol a single barrel gun? I may have one and not know it. I got a percussion ML pistol kit at a yard sale 10 years ago for $2. I put it together and it is a rifled caliber .45 single barrel pistol sans sights, but it does shoot and is handy in my sash as I do my primitive thing. I carry my pistol in my sash, a patch knife on the strap of my possibles bag and a 'hawk on my weak side on my belt. Adam

Deerman,
I saw an old Currier & Ives sort of print of a woods camp in Winter circa 1750. There were several French Couers des bois (pardon my French for "Crusiers of the woods". ) I saw one guy had a sash around his waist over his coat (capote?). I have a long red plaid scarf that goes twice around over my Hudson Bay coat. I wear it in the Primitive season after Christmas and since we have no orange requirement for that season, it seems safer to have the red material than buckskin. Look at the photo in the Bushy Run Battle Reenactment thread on this site for an illustration. Hope this helps. Adam

Adam stupid me I completely forgot about this thread until just now. Yes it is a single barrel job. I am looking hard at one as I have always wanted a single heavy barrel blackpowder pistol.
