Goin do dial up
In an effort to save money for a while we're thinking of losing our high speed cable and going to dial-up but I don't know who to go with. I've seen the commercials but they don't tell me anything so I you, which dial-service is worth it? I'm looking for a service that doesn't cost too much but still works well-reliable, stable, good support and service, etc. Help a poor brother out. Thanks.

TATER
MY IP IS MY LOCAL PHONE COMPAMY. THEY DO A GREAT JOB. EVEN THOUGH IT IS TWO TIN CANS WITH A STRING FOR CONNECTION. WHEN DSL FIRST CAME OUT IT WAS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN DIAL UP. NOW THE DIFFERENCE IS ONLY $6 A MONTH. I'M THINKING OF GOING THE OTHER WAY.

I honestly don't think it is worth it to go dial up anymore... most web sites are built around high speed, so you may find it more frusterating that worth the few extra $$
Its one reason I am holding off building out on the farm. I would miss it too much..

I agree, toxic, but we need the money and this is the quickest way to get it.

I use sisna.com. I've never used anyone else because I am completely happy with them. (I can't even get DSL because I have the last house on a trunk line, and they don't plan to upgrade to fiber optic anytime soon!)
Anywho... Sisna has dialup numbers almost everywhere, use a good accelerator option and offer free access to Wi-Fi at any KOA campground - all for $15 a month. No software to install, either. My wife uses Earthlink. She pays the same amount per month and has almost as many dialup numbers across the country as Sisna does. But Earthlink requires you to install a big software bundle on your drive to use it. (Why do we use TWO ISPs? Well, she had Earthlink at her previous job for free, and didn't want to change email addys when she left. Besides, if we're on a trip, there's almost no place we can't get a dialup number for one or the other.)

I don't know if it is available in your area but I went to access995.com it is only $9.95 a month and better with the tec and everything else than the $21 I was paying for ccia.....I have never had the cable so wouldn't know the difference however talking to a tec before, he thought my computer was fast for dialup..and they never kick me offline or have any other problems with it

Juno is awesome. I have had it since it was a totally free service. Now $9.95, I have also heard the Netzero (Juno sister company) is good but have no personal experience. I recommend Juno Dialup to anyone that asks

My wife had Netzero before we moved in together. She loved it and I used it a couple of times and seemed to have no problem with it. It was $9.95 a month back then (i.e., a little over a year ago).

I assume you know to avoid AOL like the plague. Any company that censors its services to eliminate gun-related sites, and ALSO fires employees just for having guns in their cars is no friend of mine.
Let me recommend sisna.com once more. Lots of free features, real person tech help 24/7, free Wi-Fi at KOAs and more. No software to download and no contract either, as far as I know.

The "accelerators" are practically worthless. What they do is digitally compress images until they are practically unreconginzable. If you actually want to see anything, you have to turn the accelerator off temporarily.

My service uses Browseblast accelerator. I can't see any difference whatever in image quality or anything else except downlink speed. That's only marginally faster, but it is faster.
