Thumbs up My best Archery Buck

After 21 years of Virginia Bowhunting and 40 Whitetail deer to my credit, I finally connected with my Buck of a lifetime.
This boy was out on Holloween afternoon freshning up his scrapes and a 15 yards shot and a 60 yard trot was the a great trick & treat for me. At age 46 you wonder if you'll get your chance at a good buck, and Thank God My chance ended in success.

357--I am very happy for you. I am envious as well, I have been working hard for years and haven't even gotten close to a deer like that! Great job.

Well the story starts about 15 years ago when I discovered this particular oak flat on a ridge, and was amazed at the buck sign. I have harvested many bucks from that area with a bow, but never a trophy, Because of the remotesness of this area, I hadn't hunted it for the past 4 years and with one week left in the Archery season, I decided to make the hike and see if the area was still deery. I climbed a hickory tree that I have used many times before, and the first deer that came through was Mr. Big.
I had decided 3 years ago after reaching my 40th bow killed Whitetail that it was time that I waited on a trophy, and during the past 3 seasons I have passed on more than 50 in bow range Whitetails.
I'm glad I followed through with waiting, otherwise who knows!

OK you can wake up now. I'm done!
