Those are some great pics, and it looks like you guys had a great time.

I am thinking about making a trip out there for some pheasant hunting. What time of the year is good (i.e., not too cold but with plenty of pheasant action)?

Plenty of birds through out the season and as far as weather it is hard to say. You may have blistering heat as was the case two years agoe or more natural like this year with temps in the moderate 50 to 60's. On the other hand you may be hunting in snow lol.
If you are going to hunt Public land I would plan my trip for about now, several weeks after the season has opened as there is a little less pressure on the lands and still plenty of birds.
If you are going to shoot the preserves it really dont matter as it is a put a take deal.
