I have a question about the 7-30 waters
I was wondering if anyone had any information about the 7-30 waters. I would like to purchase a lever action, but I am having alot of difficulty finding anyone who makes them anymore. If anyone has any information about where I can find one or knows somebody that can help me find a lever action 7-30 waters would be greatly appreciated.

Chet, a warm welcome to HuntChat.
I moved your post here becasue it's more of a "Want to Buy" question. I wrote an article about the 7-30 Waters which you may wish to read. Click on the link in my Signature box below.. It's a great round, and I can't think of any reason why it isn't more popular than the 30-30 today - except for ground-in traditionalism.

Very poor selection of suitable FN bullets is probably the major reason. Currently the only bullet I am aware of is the Nosler ....I believe 120 FN. The same round handloaded for a Contender is about as good as it gets for a deer gun. This gives you an indefinite number of components for handloading with SP/BT bullets.
Federal is the only company that still ....or asfar as I know ever made ammo for the Waters. But 30-30 brass is easy to work with and making cases for the 7-30 Waters is easy. Winchester only made the Model 94 in 7-30 for a short while....you may have a bit of trouble finding one.................... |

Of course, that 120 Nosler is darn near the perfect bullet for it, so....
There is also the 139-grainer if you want a bit more whammie - at a bit less speed. I sold the M-94 I used for my article, and hardly ever wish I hadn't. But that's only because I have the Contender in 7-30 and that's my "reach-for" deer gun when I don't want a scoped rifle - and I need but one 7-30 in the safe. I do wish I had taken the M-94 out for coyotes a few times, though.
