fully automatic weapons

i am curious what i would need to do to get my hands on a little "mac 10 or 11" in full automatic. why.....because i have a blast once in a while shooting them at the range, and i have always wanted one just to have i guess.

do you need a special license or anything. i have heard all you really need is lots of coin and patience, well i have the patience i guess.

my question is how do you go about getting a fully automatic weapon to own and shoot as a hobby?
thanks
jj

I haven't done this, but I think I'd go to the BATF website and search for Cat III weapons.

I THINK, but am not sure, that you have to apply for a permit. That entails a full background check to include written approval by local police. Assuming you pass that, they issue you a certificate to buy one (just one). You find a Cat III licensed dealer. You pay a $250 transfer tax in addition to all other costs and fees. Then you have to have certified, inspectable storage facilities approved by the BATF, to include security system.

You can't buy another one or sell the first one without paying another $250 transfer tax.

Frankly, if I had to go through all that hoopla, I'd want a gun a whole lot better quality than a stinky Mac 10.

I have the 9mm semi-auto version of the mac-10. I put a hellfire tigger gizmo on it so it resembles full auto. It's perfectly legal. Basically it allows the weapon to fire as fast as possible semiautomatically, which can be as much as 1,000rpm. That's right in the full-auto range. I can even use this gizmo on other semi's. A whole cheaper and just as much fun.

i agree rocky, but in my little research i did do on pricing it seemed the only thing even remotely in my price range was the crappy mac10!!

i would be just peachy happy with that thing though.
