Tikka questions

Am looking for the year that Tikka commercially started production of the M695. Also, looking for the year that Tikka ceased commercial production of the M695.

As well, looking for oppinions on whether the M695 is a better rifle (for hunting) than the T3. What advantages might one or the other have?

Many thanks for your input.

Hi There,

Although I cannot help with the years you are seeking.

My opinion is that I would certainly go with the older M695 rather than the T3 for the reason that Berretta had nothing to do with it. I still recall the farse with the slides on the 92's and Berretta dismal handling of it seen again recently with the bad barrel steels. For the oldest Gun manufactuer in the world they sure made some real cock-ups.

It seems to me that the T3's have been designed with major imput from the accounts again and the result is not a real improvement over the old model. It probably makes more profit sure but it's not a better rifle.

The 2005 Beretta Catalog, page 94, makes reference to "...made the T3 a blockbuster in 2003...". I assume that the m695 ceased production at the same time the T3 reached commercial production (2003).

Do we have any early buyers of the m695??? Since it is such a fine rifle, I would like to know when commercial production began.

And any oppinions on the m695 and or T3 would be appreciated. I notice the m695 in caliber 30-06 has a metal magaziine, rather than a plastic one, for the T3 of the same caliber. The composite stock of the two are slightly different...good or bad? As well, the action is a bit different in configuration.

I purchased my M595 which I believe is the same as the M695 only in all weather stainless synthetic.I purchased it in 2002 and was told at the time the T3 would be out in the late spring of 2002 and that the M595/695 were to be discontinued.I know many guys who love thier T3's.I don't know anyone else who owns a M595/695.but I sure love mine in 22 250.Mine came with a 3 shot synthetic clip which at times would not chamber a round. I went to the dealer who said the springs were to week So I ordered a 5 shot clip which is metal and I haven't had a problem since. Ken
