Leupold Mounts

What are some thoughts on Leupold scope mounts? The solid base compared to the 2 piece set up. Is the one piece basically for long range stability or to help increase height for a scope with a bigger bell? I don’t think I will need a detachable scope so the standard mounts seem the best way to go. Is the front dovetail ring solid?

I use Leupold rings and bases on all my rifles and had nothing but good shooting for years with no problems. I use the 2 piece setup on my rifles. I shoot everything from 22-250 to .338 RUM and no failures. I recommend them to friends who ask because I feel that they are good quality mounts.

Thanks RUM,

Do you just use the standard mounts?

I am setting up a Model 70 30-06. This gun was built in 1949 and I will probably set it with a good load for a 165 gr, hunt with a couple years and put it to rest. I have found out that it is worth good sum and pretty much a family heirloom.

I use the standard mounts because my objective lenses aren't any larger than 44mm if you go bigger than that you will have to go to a taller mount set up. But the standard mounts should work just fine for your Remington.

Sounds like I can't go wrong. More than likely, I will have them on there by the end of the week.

Red face Scope Mount Opinion

Get the Talley mount rings and never worry about it again.
