The sad part about this is a Private organization (anti-hunters) bought the Hunting and Fishing rights to a large tract of Public land. They made promises to the First Nations to garner support for their cause and spat in the eye of Residents.
The next barrier will be the Marine Trust which in Phase 1 will extend from the US border to Dodds narrows (Duncan). Phase 2 will extend to the southern tip of Quadra Island. Don't expect to fish here as you just might catch a Rockfish. |

Pay attention to this my friends. As a long time former BC resident this is the tip of the proverbial iceberg!
An outfitter sold to the trust. What does that tell you about where they think they sit? Now certainly some of these things can be written off as business transactions where a company is making a profit..........but this is the start of things, where outfitters see what is coming and try to make the best deal they can financially. Residents always hate the outfitters.......this would be a good reason, but it should also be a wake up call. The long term is not good for the resident hunter unless the provincial government ensures resident hunting rights in land claim settlements. They haven't so far.....not in a substantive way....so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Get out there and get active!!!! |
