? for the ladies

When you go out hunting, do you get all "dolled" up like Cindy Garrison on that t.v. show? I can't imagine all that hairspray and makeup she wears would be good for her scent profile.
Not real impressed with that show, although she is easy on the eyes.

Classic,

I ain't a lady, but I did date a woman that went hunting with me. A couple of times she had to drive separately because she couldn't get ready in time in the morning (i.e., she had to put on makeup and get her hair straight). She even had a tackle box for her makeup.

Now, my wife is competely different. She doesn't wear much makeup and she has no desire to shoot an animal. However, she has mentioned that she would like to come out and watch me and my dog, Nitro, waterfowl hunt.

ok fabs. now we got her sniffin' the bait. now keep her interest and next christmas buy her one of those perty litte english side by sides in 16 gauge, or maybe even a 12 if she's not too petite and teach her how to shoot trap. then when she's really chompin' at the bit, take her out for upland birds and waterfowl. i think they have bismuth shot for the 16 but i'm not sure they have steel. but by that time you might be thinking about a good auto for her.

make sure you have the firearm fitted specifically for her. in case you haven't noticed women are built a bit different than us guys. they have built in tissue that is absent in us. also they don't have the reach we do. i seen so many girls and ladies bring in guns to the shop that were fitted absolutely crapy. they would mount the gun then have to creep forward to try to get a good sight picture. they have a shooting pad especially for ladies thats named after one of the greek goddesses get her one of those. tell her it's named after a goddess for a goddess, that ought to score you a few points.

i taught a shooting course at my local range and women were much easier to teach, one reason being they didn'y show up with pre-conceived ideas. most were first timers and required no unlearning. that helped greatly.

sincerely, i hope you can get her interested and she becomes a hunting buddy.

i sure miss not hunting with my wife. i hate to admit this but most of what i know i learned from her. why, because i never really hunted untill i got in the military. and if it had not been for that i would never have met her.

have a good one.

Cindy may wear makeup and such, but at least I find the show entertaining compared to lot of those other so called hunting shows. Just my opinion.--tr

Billy,

My wife has already shot sporting clays a couple of times with a pharmacist friend of hers before she met me. This guy is an instructor and taught her how to shoot a little with a 20 ga. o/u. She wants to go and shoot clays with me, but she doesn't want to do it while other people are around because out of 50 targets they usually shoot in the 30's and I shoot in the 40's. She is very competitive and doesn't want to feel the pressure of having to shoot well with all these guys. So, we are probably going to spend a couple of days at Pintail Pointe's bed & breakfast and do some shooting together during the spring when the weather isn't quite as cold.

As far as hunting is concerned, the only thing I think she needs to see is how excited Nitro gets when we get in the field and then she will understand why I feel so bad when we don't knock anything down for him to retrieve. All it will take is a little time and I think I will have her hooked. Speaking of hooked, I already know that she wants to go fishing out on the boat.

She wasn't brought up doing this sort of stuff, but she is definitely interested in it. She has come to the clays range on several occassions just to watch me, my brothers, my dad, and friends shoot.

I'll let you know how it goes in the spring.

fabs

far out. that makes me happy to hear that. nothing better than having your soul mate as your hunting, fishing and shooting partner also.

when my wife and i got married we camped out spent our honeymoon in the mountains in montana fly fishing a creek. we was poor as dirt but didn't give a rats rump. we had each other. hard to believe that was 44 years ago. time flies buddy, make use of every minute. if ya don't you'll look back and say "wtf" happened?

have a good one

I for one am not a fan of Cindy Garrison's TV show. I have only seen one episode and I feel that was enough. This episode showed Ms. Garrison setting a wild fire and running through it with a loaded firearm. That seemed at the least irresponsible and perhaps criminal. I do not believe they were in the U.S. and I do not know what the local regulations were. Regardless of your thoughts on forest fires (I personally feel they can offer a rebirth of an aging forest) I know that in most places lighting a forest fire is illegal. Is this how sportsman want to be represented in the media? I don't think so, and I refuse to support it.

As I recall I heard the "bleep" button used several times on that program as well. I am not a fuddy dudy, but I don't want my impressionable daughter to see and hear that.

I am all for a female host of an outdoor program but this woman is not one I would support. In fact after watching that episode I sent an E-mail to ESPN and told them how I felt and I will not have give that program the ratings.

I will now climb down off of my soapbox.

Merry Christmas to all at HC.

I saw that episode as well. They were on the African Plain as I recall and I thought that fire starting deal was a bit odd too. The show was "OK" but I haven't seen it since and don't miss it.

muledeer,
I soiled my tutu and smeared my lipstick when I shot that muley in Colorado.

Man I missed so much here, can you believe it...went thru all the hurricanes, never lost my land line and then boom I got telephone guys hangin off every pole in the neighborhood the last couple of weeks, in fact they are here today...so I have no idea how long I'll be plugged in...

yes, I wear make-up, most of it is permanent of course cause I dont want to fool with that stuff on the dirt...we take lots of pics when we are out, so it would be a little scarey with out it...
