S&W Mod 49 38 special Bodygaurd
Hi Everyone! I am aquiring this 5 shot revolver for concealed carry purposes and want some advice on what ammo I should use in it . What weight bullet and such. I figure 125 gr Federal Hydra Shocks would be a good canididate. I know 38 special isnt the most powerfull caliber handgun to carry but this mod 49 S&W is very comfortable to conceal and carry. I have a 45 and it is just too bulky and a boat anchor to boot. So a few well placed plus P 38's should do the job. Comments wanted Thanks Roy

I have that very gun, the 638 Centennial Airweight. I bought it just as they were releasing the Titanium and Skandium framed models. I don't reload for it, too much available for too little cost to bother...especially for self defense ammo. I use that very Hydra-Shok ammo you speak of and it shoots well, specifically the +P's since the gun is rated for +P ammunition which gets you danged near a .357 mag velocity. More than enough out of a tiny gun.
You won't be dissapointed with it. I really like the shrouded hammer feature that the other Airweights don't offer.
