Exclamation Winchester is for sale!

Winchester is selling out and if they are not sold by March 31, 06 they will be closing their doors! Bad news! I just found out today I wounldn't have believed it if I hadn't read the news myself.

Thumbs down Thats Not Good!!!

Hi Rum!, Sorry to hear this, but Winchester as I understand was owned by the same corporation that owns Browning. I think the corporations name was Giat so I wonder whats up with the rest of the outfit?????

Winchester itself isn't being closed down, if you can even say that Winchester can be closed down. According to the article, Olin Corp. owns the name Winchester and sold it to a Belgian company. The belgian company was manufacturing some of the guns out of a plant in Connecticut, but they are closing down the plant in Connecticut because they cannot turn a profit with the guns made there (e.g., 1300, Model 70). The belgian company wants to continue manufacturing the high end guns in Belgium, Portugal, and Japan, but Olin doesn't know if it wants to extend the contract for the Winchester name past the original 2006 contract deadline if the belgian company is going to close the plant and stop making those guns.
