.17 hmr and coon

i was out squirrel hunting yesterday morning and i had a coon come out at 8am at about 100 yards it was broad side so i aimed for the heart/lung area i shot and the coon started spinning and bitting at the wound so i shot again and it took off running but only gets about 10 yards and flopps on its side dead. i weighed ht ecoon and it weighed in at a whooping 39 lbs i thought this was a huge coon but i aint no coon hunter i just shoot them when i c them but i was really surprised at how the little bullet from the .17 performed on him. i was using hornady bullets with a saveage bolt action heavy barreled gun and a bushnell 4x12x40mm scope
