Prayer Request

You guys here are always so kind and caring I figured it couldn't hurt to post this here.

Over the next couple days if any of you could please keep my Grand Dad in your prayers I would appreciate it.

He's 79 a WWII Vet and one of the hardest working men I have ever known. Got up ever morning at 4:30 and worked everyday until he was 65 as a carpenter in the Union. A Real old fashion hard working Family Man if you know what I mean.

POP and my Grandmother are still very active and do lots of stuff with my son (their GREAT Grandson). He spends most every weekend with them and they play army, go for hikes in the woods and POP takes my son for rides in his Real Army Jeep. I hope I am as active at 79

Long story short Pop was admitted to the hospital yesterday with breathing problems and the diagnosis isn't looking real good. He has known for years that he has Asbestosis. Well when he went to the Doc having a hard time breathing she admitted him right away. The hospital is running all kinds of tests to figure out if Pop just has a case of regular ole everyday Pnuemonia or if the Asbestosis has turned into Mesothelioma (cancer in the lining around your lung caused by asbestos exposure)

We are hoping for Plain ole Pnuemonia for obvious reasons. If it is Mesothelioma his prognosis past a couple months is not very good at all.

So anyway if any of you could see your way clear to Say a prayer for Madman's Grand Dad I would appreciate it.

Thanks for listening and thanks in advance for any prayers you say for Pop.

I will keep him in my heart for you, its strange the last couple of weeks have been kinda spiritual for me...I am meeting people that later that night I think ya know, it seems like God is bringing us together for some reason...now you guys know me and I am not a Bible thumper, but I haven't been here in a while and this was the first thread I went to...I hope your grandpa will pull out from this ....but if for some reason he does not...he has obviously made a great impact on your life, and you think highly of him...and when it is all said and done, most of us can not expect more than that.....I wish I could spare you the grief of his passing if that is what is to be...but you have obviously taken stock of his life and are proud of what you have found....we are with you and wish you and he and all of your families a longer time with him...Val

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, and sorry I haven't been back in a couple days. Between work and worrying and trying to make sure Nan and Pop have everything they need I've been a bit busy and somewhat down in the dumps.

Pop got the call Tuesday that the test results were inconclusive and they ran more tests and the results from them came in yesterday. The word was not good, but we don't know the full extent yet. His Dr. told him that it was inoperable lung cancer and recomended a Lung Cancer Specialist. Pop is supposed to get in touch with that Dr. today and I guess we will know more after he talks to the specialist.

Either way we know it is not good and Pop is pretty upset. As terrible as it may sound I hope that this takes him quickly and he doesn't have much suffering. He has always been very active and I just know it will break his spirit to be bound to the house for sitting in a chair on oxygen for any extended period of time.

Thanks for letting me ramble and thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.

On another thought I guess this kinda relates to another thread a while back. Looks like we are going to be loosing another one of our beloved WWII Veterans. Pop was a SeaBee and proud of the time he served his country.

Thanks again

DaMadman I am sorry to hear that. No it doesn't sound bad to not want somebody to suffer, and thats what it boils down to. Without great men like that in the military we wouldn't be where we are today.

Keep on praying buddy, we will keep it up from this end.
