270. win made by Midland Gun Co. England

newbie here, hello all

I am looking for any information on this rifle

It is a 270. win. the markings on the gun include ".270 cal"
"Midland Gun Co. England", the serial #, the letters "BNP" with a crown above it.

When i was looking to buy a scope for it the fella in the gun shop looked under "Parker Hale" for the mount #'s, but even then the screws that he gave me were too large for the threads on the barrel. Any information on this rifle/company such as specs, history, etc would be greatly appreciated

I have a Midland rifle chambered to 7mm rem mag. Basically, it is a British mauser, so any commercial mauser mount(s) should fit. The holes on mine accept 6-48 screws. BNP is British Nitro Proof. When Parker Hale stopped producing its firearm line, Midland ceased production too. Midland seems to be to Parker Hale, what Tikka is to Sako. I heard Parker Hale brought in Santa Barbara actions from Spain, FN, and Yugoslavia to complete some of its orders. Midland was purchased by Parker Hale after WW2, and produced rifles into the early 90's.

darn, i shoiuld have known better. thats what happens when your going on 70 years old and start answering questions late at night. DUH. brain wave/fart.

if you have weaver mounts i would venture a guess that the 6x48 screws would work. if the front base is marked 46 or 20 it is a weaver base and uses 6x48 screws.
