Float trip

Would like to do a hunt-float trip in a few years, what type of license/ permits could you buy across the counter, say caribou, black bear, ect. without applying for a draw? Would like to do a traditional arhery hunt by raft. Any good outfitters that could supply the rafts & equipment ?

these links could be helpful.
for just caribou think about haul road trip with raft / canoe. if you are a very good rafter you might look into atigan river to sag . antigan canyon / gorge can be very dangerous. have friends that have done it but would like it thru one area if they did it again.
Gulkana could be good for moose and maybe black bear but probably more brown bear and you would need a guide unless you have a close relative as a resident here in Alaska there is a portage on that river and i beleive it is a 3 days float.
thou some day i would like to do the atigun trip but i'm just a novice.
better trips are probably fly in but friend lost all his meat on a moose hunt because they could not get the meat out quick enough.
some of the air charter services that are big game transporters may supply rafts and gear. Rust's air might ????try a search for big game transporters.

good luck- pat

AK Nimrod................what are the regulations regarding drop camps for Non-resident aliens, as in a Canadian?

I would like to do a drop camp for moose, but understanding is that because I am not a US citizen I would have to use a guide/outfitter.

Could you clear that up for me?

Because you are an alien, you would have to hire a guide. Sorry to disappoint, but that is how it is.

There are plenty of services up here that will set your drop hunt up for a fee. Some will even rent you the rafts, stoves, tents, etc. They pick you a river, set up the charter and the whole bit.

You can do a search and find a wide variety in different places in AK.

pm me if you'd like more info.

Angry

KUSKO IS CORRECT THAT YOU WOULD NEED A GUIDE SO IT WOULD NOT BE A DROP CAMP AND BE ALOT MORE $$$$. ONLY EXCEPTION I KNOW OF IS IF YOU HAVE CLOSE RELATIVES THAT ARE ALASKA RESIDENTS ( 1ST DEGREE KINDER)LUCKILY ALBERTA HAS A HUNTER HOST LIC AND MY BROTHER IN LAW CAN TAKE ME. I GREW UP IN NFLD, WISH I COULD GO HUNT WITH FRIENDS THERE.
