Be careful what you ask for!
I always wished scope companys, more US oriented, would make a scope with the German #1 post. I love my Leupold, and just dont have enough money for another right now.
But something in the Bushnell Elite or Banner would be nice. Or better, Burris Fullfield. Always they offer the crummy #4 (what a waste IMHO). But who offers it now????? BSA Life can be cruel

Hey Jon, Leupold will change out reticles, used to cost around $50. I've had a couple Leu's done with the #1. One difference is the reticle remains the same size no matter the magnification change versus the European types where the reticle grows as you increase power. I prefer the reticle in the plane where it grows in size, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

The biggest improvement is to skip the Leu type reticule system as it lets any reticle set in that type of eyepiece to turn pink or fade out when light hits the objective. In dim light they are not as distinct as some European type reticule systems.
I noticed that when Lyman went to the Perma Center system long ago that my reticules faded just like todays Loopies. The old scopes did not fade out but the reticules needed an adjustable mount to center them. Then I discovered the type of ocular that Zeiss uses and I have bought four Zeiss scopes and will order another this summer. These scopes have better definition than a Loopie to my eyes as well. |
