Remington Model 105CTi Shotgun

Has anyone read about or seen this new Remington shotgun? The June 2006 issue of Shooting Times ran a glowing story about it. It seems to feature a bottom ejection system, a titanium alloy receiver covered with a thin carbon fiber cover attached with epoxy. All this for only $1,332.00 (M.S.R.P.). I do not like the looks, construction or costs so have no interest in buying this shotgun. For the same money I would rather buy a few excellent used Remington 1100s or 870 Wingmasters. All the best...

Yeah, I don't like the looks of the carbon fiber, and the fact that it is epoxied on isn't too exciting. Kind of like the Beretta auto they came out with for shooting sporting clays. The main feature is that it can break in half like an o/u so that everybody at the range will know it is safe when broken open. Of course, it can only fire two shells. Oh yeah, the other big selling point was that it absorbed recoil like other autos. Personally, I would rather spend the money on a 391 that looks safe with the bolt open and that nobody should ever be in fear of their life from because the muzzle should never be pointed at them. Oh yeah, did I mention that the 391 has the ability to fire 3 shells and it also is an auto that absorbs recoil.

I have no idea what these manufacturers are trying to do with shotguns, but they aren't getting me to buy either of them.

That is one butt-ugly shotgun......while I do like the idea of a bottom ejecting autoloader (I've wondered for some time why someone hadnt made one yet), I do NOT like the idea of carbon fiber, plastics, ect. Didn't they learn their lesson with the Winchester M58 or 59 that had the fiberglass barrel.....pu--leez....give me steel any day!

Truthfully, I wouldn't mind shooting a gun with an entire receiver made out of fiberglass/carbon fiber. If the barrel were made out of fiberglass/carbon fiber too, and it worked as well as a steel barrel, I would be fine with that too. Fiberglass/carbon fiber does not rust, so you could hunt some pretty tough weather and not have to worry too much about the gun.

As far as the Remington is concerned, I don't know why there is just a piece of carbon fiber on the receiver. That does look pretty ugly. I love the use of carbon fiber on the Benelli Super Sport II's stock and forearm.
