Question Generator

Anybody had real good luck with a generator. I'm getting ready to get one and thought maybe you guys would give me some feed-back. Would like about 5000 wt's for $700 or less. Don't need any info about Honda's, their cost is way out of my range.

look at places like harbor freight and the like. companies that sell equipment to construction related businesses. they are usually the least expensive. they usually sell the highest quality for the buck equipment also.

If you want it to ALWAYS work, then spend the $$$$$ for the
Honda. Otherwise, take your chances.The Honda's are absolutely
bulletproof !! I have used gens for over 20 yrs in the construction
trade. I have tried the rest and have gone back to the best;
Honda. Nuff Said !!!

i would have to agree on the honda. but he already said that was out of his price range.

i bought a coleman a few years ago 2500 watt. it pee's it's pants when i plug my craftsman air compressor into it. i sure wouldn't reccomend that to him. it does small jobs ok.

i just bought a chinese 2 cycle engine 1000watt for my camper. it works great. re-charges the boat batteries, runs a refrigerator and microwave, and provides lights and space heater.

i'm just po' white trash and it only cost me $175. sides that it's light. a big consideration for me because i'm not supposed to lift more than 20#. doctors orders. bad back, with two surgeries. i think he's tired of seeing me, even though he made $70000 for getting me back out on the street.

i'm with ya on the honda though. they still make the best motorcycle on the road.

boy, that statement will get my backside set on fire.

My dad blew a generator to pieces a couple of years ago. We had a hurricane come by here 3 years ago this September and it knocked out the power and it knocked down a couple of trees in the backyard. At the time, I was living with my parents and trying to run my office out of their house. So, I had the computer and printer hooked up to the generator and my dad had the 3 refrigerators, the TV, and some lights hooked up to it. I quickly found out that the generator could not meet the needs of the laser printer because every time I tried to print something, I could here the generator struggle and the computer would shut down even with the battery backups in place. That was a pain. So, I stopped trying to print things and printed them at my brother;s house at night. Well, the next day, my dad decided to hook up an electric chainsaw to the generator to clean up one of the small trees that had fallen over. That was all she wrote. The rod from the motor shot out the side of the case and that generator was toast.
