Bad start to the season
Well, things started out rough this weekend. Saturday was the opener for youth season. Took my youngest brother and sister out. One of youngest brother's "friends" found out where he killed his bird last year, got permission from the landowner, and set up right where we've hunted for the last 5 or 6 years. He didn't know how to call, and scared off a real nice bird that we had inbound. So much for the first set-up. That moron ended up blundering onto a bird and killed it - how, I'll never know. Went to another property, called in 3 gobblers, but they hung up at about 100 yards (my mistake, set up downhill from them, and they gobbled at us for an hour before we snuck out). Strike 2. Set up on those birds sunday morning, and they ignored us and went the other direction. Strike three, so much for the weekend.

Yep, this was definitely a "Made for McManus" hunt. I might be able to laugh about it in a year or so, but I'm still kinda peeved right now.
