another letter to editor
It is amazing to me how so many people can fail to connect the dots on the Illegal immigrant issue. I will make this short and sweet. If the citizens of this nation do not put their foot down everyday with this issue, it will continue to swell and fester. I read where the political “powers that be” do not have the inclination to step up to the plate on this problem. What they don’t have is forethought or courage. They also don’t read the papers. Now let me take you back a couple of weeks to a little known protest in Miami. If memory serves me which it does because I watched it with “forethought” was the janitors union that sat in tents on US 1 for weeks, until they got what most ‘United States” citizens still don’t have, higher pay, insurance and a host of other demands. Mark my words, if we do nothing these so-called Unions will be popping up all over the country representing illegals demanding wages and benefits that most “Americans” don’t have. Then the argument that” illegals” do the work that “Americans won’t do” will be thrown out the window. By then it will be too late.

This morning on the radio, I heard them tell that the hispanics are the fastest growing population in the US. She (Anne Maxfield) reported that - gosh - 60% of the new population were born right here in the US. He (Mike North) argued that 40% are still illegal aliens. You might see a small flaw in his argument as not all of the 40% are illegal (but I'll bet most are). Seems to me that the crux of the matter was overlooked. My question...how many of the 60% of the new hispanic population, that were born right here in the good ole US of A, totally American citizens because of their birth right, were born from ILLEGAL ALIENS?!? Don't ya just love paying for that the rest of your lives?

Let me tell you of the latest "immigrant" scam we have here in S. Florida.....now walk with me here...if the powers that be want a glimpse into the future all they have to do is look at south Florida.
First and most important you have to start with "immigrants" who are by status legal...they run for city commissioner, mayor etc...in areas predominantly Hispanic...then they win...the corruption that then ensues is horrific and spans almost every aspect of the city...the school board here is a rats nest of nepotism and a funnel for tax dollars from buying phony certificates and degrees for pay raises to cheating on test scores to determine funding for individual schools The process of honest bidding for road building, school additions, almost any aspect of infra-structure in this state is a joke...the so-called "legal" Hispanic community has interest in getting their family members here as fast as possible with as little legal proceedings as possible. Not to mention their work is shabby and downright unsafe. But their brother-in-law is the inspector so the work passes. Now we have an estimation of at least one in 16 drivers in south Florida has no licence, let alone insurance...so who pays for that? Now they uncovered an entire network of truckers who have phony insurance cards. and oh have you ever seen a truck that is overloaded and not secured..take a ride on my highways sometime..it would make a legitimate trucker cry..read the names sometime of the overturned trucks that clog up my highways on any given day, two gas tankers yesterday alone that still has major arteries of the city shut down. But hey the news injects that the driver "julio mendez" is safe and has been taken to the hospital...give me a break I can go on and on...cant wait to get out of this state..its a cesspool of ineptness and corruption.. PS think about this for a second...you have thousands of people fleeing a culture that is corrupted, poor, uneducated and has no concept of what is just basic to us Americans, how do you expect to ingratiate people like this into the American fabric? It just isnt happening at this rate of influx...

Why dont I just put a gun to my head?????
With Puerto Rico's economy in tatters, many islanders consider moving stateside By Doreen Hemlock South Florida Sun-Sentinel May 11, 2006 Business owners Lilia Molina and husband Norbert Delgado had been thinking for months about leaving the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. But as island politicians feuded over a budget crunch that has kept schools and government offices closed since May 1, the couple made a decision. They're moving to South Florida. "I never thought I'd leave the island. My parents are here," Molina, 54, said from Puerto Rico this week. "But we're in an economic crisis on the island. And it doesn't look like things will stabilize in the short run." Molina began exploring her options months back, seeking advice from the Puerto Rican chambers of commerce in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Those chambers now report a barrage of phone calls, as other anxious islanders explore options in South Florida, already home to about 200,000 Puerto Ricans.

Val, the rate of influx is the problem here. It isn't like there is only a couple and they are the odd ones out with the corruption, etc. I have a client that is a granite counter top contractor. He is from El Salvador. Guess what, he doesn't have a home improvement license and he doesn't have workman's comp insurance, even though I have advised him to get both. He says that his buddies don't have it, so why does he need it. At least he pays his taxes and all the withholding for the employees. Little by little, I think he will straighten himself out. The difference between a year ago and today is amazing.
What will need to happen is that the second generation will have to grow up and undestand how things are supposed to be in America. In the meantime, I say close the borders down a significant amount. Make is so that some immigration is still possible, but make it so that they can come over legally a little easier.
