Everyone has something that simply bugs the snot out of them. Tell us yours.
People who feel the need to tell me to stop smoking everytime they see me. I've got one particular pebble in my shoe at my job who feels the need to tell me I need to quit smoking everytime I walk by. I didn't even know her name until today. To me, someone who always tells someone to quit smoking is no different than a smoker blowing a hit into a non-smokers face and trying to get them to smoke with you. I know smoking is bad for me. It says right on the box. I'm 21 and fully capable of making my own decisions. Back off!

Yes..drivers that cross the center line on bends..#1....
After one year gaining about 10lbs of winter weight like an old groundhog.... an uncle stopped over the house to visit that I have not seen in about a year..first thing out of his mouth was...'holly cow did you get fat'..I just replied 'yea but you are ugly and at least I can just loose the weight'.....but he is my favorite uncle and a blast to be around...so when that lady tells you to quit smoking, just say something like she better loose weight, gettin fat...or she should color her hair...makes her look too old or something of that order. That will shut her up. #2 People that don't mind their own bussiness...Is their life that boreing they have to worry about what I do?

When you are out with your kids somewhere- like McDonald's play place or a library and your kids are playing or reading and being good and someone else's kids come in and grab the toy my kid is using or starts hitting or being rude and the kid's parents do absolutely nothing- some day, I will snap and either kick the parent's butt or grab the kid and say "next time you touch him, I'm going to touch you". Thankfully haven't got to that point yet, plus my four year old can take care of himself- it just ticks me off.

Guys at work that ask me for my opinion on how to make a repair to a car and then want to challenge me about my opinion. I have been the shop foreman for 4 ½ years here and over 5 years at the last dealer. I have worked on these cars for 22 years.
I don’t think that I know everything there is to know and I know that I can learn new thing from these people. If I give you my opinion and you did not ask for it then I would expect this. I guess they just need to feel they are smarter than the old guy. Allen |

Wahnie,
I know what you're going through. As a former smoker, I can attest that it's a pain to deal with people who don't have any business telling you what to do with your life. My biggest gripe these days is that we're losing more and more "options" to our duly elected represenatives. We have to wear seatbelts in a car, but it's perfectly legal to ride a motorcycle without a helmet. ![]() gd

GD, I don't think anyone of age should have to wear a seatbelt or a helmet if they choose. If they want to risk it, go right on ahead, it your life. Kiddos should be strapped reguardless, IMHO. I know when my sister takes the kids she watches anywhere its like getting ready for a space shuttle launch.

Mine has to be people that complain about the weather. Some people will start complaining because it gets dark at night.
Last week it was supposed to get to 100 in Minnesota and it was the top news story for 5 days. "Getting Minnesota ready for the heat wave". The Governor even had a public service announcement warning people to stay inside and drink plenty of fluids. (I spent the day at the range with my buddies shooting our rifles. Had the place to ourselves, it was great.) It's a wonder we know how to get up in the morning without the media and government telling us how.

I don't know what my main gripe is, but I do have a problem with people that do not wear their seatbelts while driving a car or their helmets while riding a motorcycle. The jury is already out about these items providing you with a much better chance of escaping a crash unscathed. My brother wrecked on his GSXR1000 at 100+ mph, and he vividly recalls his helmet scraping on the asphalt for quite a while. He was wearing his riding boots and a pair of jeans, but he "forgot" his jacket in the basement just like Roethlesberger forgot his "helmet" in the basement. Of course, my brother regretted "forgetting" the jacket because he got road rash all over his back and arms. He figured he was only going a short ways so he didn't need it. Now, he doesn't "forget" it, but he also rides a lot less.
Now, I would have no problem with people not wearing a seatbelt or their helmet, if when they became a quadriplegic (sp.) or brain dead and ran out of money, we just pulled the plug on medical service for them. It was their decision to not wear a seatbelt or helmet, so why should MY tax dollars go toward paying for their mistake. Same thing goes for the rebuilding of New Orleans, the people that live in Florida with all the hurricanes, the people that live in Tornado alley, and the people that live in California along a fault line that they know eventually will go. Why should I subsidize their homeowner's insurance through my tax contributions or have my homeowner's insurance premium increased to spread the risk amongst the entire USA? By the way, the wearing of seatbelts and helmets is mandatory here. Further, even though a helmet is not required on adults riding bicycles, I never "forget" my helmet when I go bike riding, no matter how hot it is. The last time I went riding I started to overheat so I stopped riding and took the helmet off to try and cool myself as quickly as possible. Oh yeah, people that do not wear their seatbelts and helmets set a bad example for the young. I also do not believe in do as I say, not as I do, because that just does not work for the most part. On another note, a child doesn't have to hate its parents for the parents to have the child's respect. My dad was a tough guy when it came to punishment, but he also know how to let us have fun. All five of us still go over my parents' every Sunday for dinner and we are between the ages of 35 and 26. Oh yeah, I also forgot about all the poor people out there without health insurance that are suffering from lung cancer due to smoking. Of course, the state pays for their medical care, which indirectly I end up paying for through my tax contributions. A lot of the recent litigation against the tobacco companies have been by states suing for contribution for the amount spent on treating indigent people suffering from lung cancer. Peter Angelos, a class action attorney that also owns the Baltimore Orioles, won a $25 billion judgment against Phillip Morris on behalf of the State of Maryland. His contingency fee on that case was $4 billion, but the state eventually got him to reduce it significantly.

Wahnie, I feel you brotha. The ones that tick me off the most are the people here at work that are out joggin on code red air quality days and giving me dirty looks for smoking a cigarette OUTSIDE.
I have actually had one of these idiots. Jogging in 100 degree 90 % humidity and air quality so bad it was code red and would have destroyed and Iron Lung machine. Jogged by and made a comment that I wasn't a full 50 feet from the building. I don't need to repeat the Exchange of words that ensued that comment. There are a couple other pet peeves but I will refrain at the moment |

Everyone has pet peeves, and to most, thier's are the only ones that matter!
![]() The pet peeves that most spout, are simply an angry responce to one's own bad conduct being opposed to! The instances of peeves stated here on this string, are common, and most are not worth the high blood pressure they invoke! My biggest pet peeve is people who don't see the "rocks&glass houses" of their own irritants. Not limited to, but as example, most of the things people do, as THEIR CHOICE, are not only effecting them, but, in fact, effect others, and those objecting to the activity, are ridiculed, for objecting! One of these things is the use, or not, of seat belts. Everyone says it is my choice, and if I'm killed or enjured, that is my affaire! I agree, if that were the case, but many times it isn't. This is a response issued without thought! For the occupants in an automobile, Those not buckeled, may fly around in a wreck, and kill the other occupants of the car, because of THEIR choice. The driver, not buckeled, in many cases, is more likely to loose control of his car, because an impact throws him out from under the steering wheel, then the insuing wreck, involves others on the road, because of HIS choice. As some one above said, my Taxes for the last 50, or 60 yrs has been paying for the result of those who choose to go their own way, not takeing into consideration that their choice, many times, puts others at risk, with the tax payer paying the bill! Pet peeves all boil down to two things! #1 your freedom to swing ends at the tip of the other man's nose, then it becomes his business! # 2 the attitude that only other people are wrong. Gentlemen, Others rarely see us as we see oursleves! We all have things about us that ticks others off. Not likeing that is human, but when you say "THAT IS MY CHOICE" about anything you do, simply think, does my choice effect others negatively?, if it does, that is the time to take invantory of your own faults, rather than becoming angered by other's objection to your choice ! I smoked hard for about 15 yrs, and I haven't had a ciggy in my mouth for over 38 yrs. My attitude was the same as those who smoke today, it was my choice, and I am the one who must suffer if it turns out the predictions of cancer are real! WELLLLLLL...... I'm going through cancer treatment today, for cancer of the throat! I had surgery in April, and then 33 consecutive daily radiation treatments, burning my throat to cinder. Thank God for this computer, because I can't talk, and I haven't had a night's sleep since the radiation started. When I lie down, siliva runs down my wind pipe, and chokes me,so I must sleep sitting up. Pleanty of people who were concerened about my health, ticked me off, by suggesting I stop smokeing. I understand the thought that my choices were mine, but I'm not the only one suffering for that choice. My family, a wife, four kids rangeing in age from 44 yrs old to age 50 yrs,and 11 grand kids, and 3 great grand kids, are now dealing with my desease, along with me. My choice was not only mine but was made effecting others as well! Now I'm on medicare, so many thousands of dollars of tax payer money is paying the bill. I don't normally say anything to anyone about their smokeing, unles it dirrectly effects me, or my family, but it saddens me to see young healthy people smokeing, because I know what is slowly building up in their bodies, but it is, as you say, their choice! ![]() ![]() ![]()
