Question

I have a fox outback of my house that makes a high pitched scream all night long, every night. It sounds somewhat like a screach owl and it makes the sound every minute or so. My question is since I don't trap, what does the sound mean? Is the fox wounded? Threatened? Young? Can I shut it up without killing it?

Seems like every year when I am in Maryland Bowhunting I end up dragging deer after dark and listening to just how vocal red foxes get. They do make a racket for sure! Sounds like you have a den close to your place and I wouldnt be concerned that theres anything wrong just canines talking back and forth. Short of killing it good luck on getting it to shut up got to be a tad bit tougher to get a wild fox to behave better than a yard dog.
