Caught lots of Jellyfish. There seemed to be quite a bit of them and I even got zapped on the second to last day. Not too bad, just felt like a bad sunburn all day. Dan thing wrapped himself around both ankles

We visited Nauticus and the Naval Museum. We toured the USS Wisconsin Battleship which was pretty darn cool to say the least. I wish we could have stayed longer but 3 hrs was all a 1.5 and 3 yr old could muster

I believe these are the 16" guns? Can't really recall the size although my son climb right in the barrel off one inside the museum. This shell is an actual one which weighs 1600 pounds, as much as a Volkswagon beatle, and apparently as tall as a Petey

A view from the second level back. I think this ship was like 800' long. I'm sure some others could give the specifics. Like I said, I spent more time running after kids than looking and getting all the info but what time I was there, I did enjoy it

Of course we made the VA Zoo too.. Gotta have at least one critter in these series of pics. I kind of got a kick out of the Bison they had on display.. the actually had a cow there too. I guess when you live in the city you don't get to see cows everyday liek I do. We also went to see the aquarium which was pretty awesome along with a dolphin tour. I didn't get to fish though. All in all it was a fun family trip with LOTS of water and swimming

which my kids love to do. Here's my 19 mth old acting like she's a pro swimmer. Talk about non-stop jumping, swimming and playing in the pool and ocean all week. I need a vacation from my vacation

Great pics. You look almost as white as I did when I was on the beach. My tan was none existant, and probably still is, with the exception of a farmer's tan from cycling.

Could you imagine being at ground zero when that shell impacted on you. Probably wouldn't feel a thing.

I cannot imagine how tiresome it is to have to run after a 1 1/2 year old and a 3 year old, but it is probably fun too.

Yeah that was day 1 at the beach. I'm a bit more colored now.

It was a fun trip, but 7 days was pretty long for the 2 youngsters. We never got a drop of rain except on Saturday night about 11:00 PM between Richmond and DC on the way home.. It was a pretty massive rainstorm, I'm sure you recall?

the 3 - 4 lanes were down to about 30 mph with whipers as fast as they could go. Kids slept the whole 7.5 hr trip up and back. Nice leaving at night.

Cool thing is next year I get to select the vacation, so guess who's going to Yellowstone! ha ha

I didn't think I would like the beach, but I am a big fan of the outer banks once I saw all the charter boats, fishing stores, and waterfowl blinds out there. Now, I want to buy a vacation house down there so that I can vacation/hunt/fish down there without having to pay the insane amount of rent for a house for a week. Of course, on the weeks we do not use it we will be charging an insane amount for rent.

I probably wouldn't have picked the beach if I was picking the vacation, but I am sure there will be plenty of forays for the wife and I into the countryside.

Glad to hear that the kids slept the entire way down and back. I like leaving at night too so that I can avoid most of the traffic. Coming back from the Outer Banks we left at 5:30 in the morning and still hit a bunch of traffic between Virginia Beach and DC. God I hate the traffic around here. Speaking of which, I went to meet a client yesterday and left here at 2:45. Mind you, the drive only takes 40 minutes, but I didn't get there until 3:00 because of the traffic on 495.

By the way, most of you will not understand the traffic around here, but Petey lived in this area for a couple of years so I am sure he knows exactly what I am talking about.

Petey, petey,......petey

the second level back.

That would be the second DECK

The pointy end is the bow, not bow but bow

The back end is the stern

The right side facing front is Starboard

The left side facing front is Port

THe hallways are passageways.

Crosswise across the ship is athwart ship.

They relined the barrels and test fired them out here in the desert about 5 miles west. Still some unexploded rounds in the dirt.

Glad you and the family had a great vacation.

We made Jellyfish jelly sandwiches like Spongebob Squarepants. Nah anything I caught, I mercifully burried laughing as I kicked sand over it. Ah, call me heartless but I didn't want to see my little ones getting zapped.

Roy, no no..my bow is a Mathews MQ32. Deck is something my wife does to me when I give her lip. Then I "bow" for forgiveness. You know what I meant, I was still doped up on a week's worth of sunscreen when I first wrote this.

I could have caught up on all my seaman's talk but I was too busy running after 2 little kids! Still it was a sight to see.
