Holy Smokes!!!

Actually, there was nothing holy about the smoke last night. We had a nasty windstorm blow in last night with gusts up to 65 mph reported in some areas. My SAR team got a call-out to help with the evacuation of a little town called Tipanuk near here; they moved them in to the high school. Unfortunately, I'd had a couple drinks so I couldn't go but I guess it went pretty smooth, unless you're one of the poor souls who lost a house, barn or all your crops. I think every building in my apartment complex lost a lot of shingles. Anyway, if you're interested, here the link to one of our local new stations http://www.ktvb.com/ I know there are a few folks here that live in the area: any other insight. It was pretty exciting for a couple hours

As I type, the area immediately west of downtown Reno is afire - and the wind is blowing to the east.

Western wildfires are no joke, folks. This year so far, the Western states have lost 5.9 million acres to widlfire - and it ain't over by a long shot.

Rocky

I watched it last night after talking with you at the gun show. I was in my back yard BBQing some chicken and watching the the sun turn red because of the smoke and we had ash falling everywhere. Still burning this morning. I'm at work now so I don't know the status (8/12). Last I heard about 2-3 thousand acres so far.
See ya tonight at the Outback.

Update: 6,651 acres as of 8/13 and it's out. No homes lost!
