As usual something went wrong. Forgot to take the camera to the field with us this weekend so here's the old tailgate picture of my antelope. Green scored 81 4/8" by an official B&C scorer.

Great buck. Wyoming antelope is on my punch list for '07. I've got a friend who is on his way home from the Rock Springs area today, had a great hunt. I've got a preference point in so I'm hoping our party draws.

I'd be proud to take a buck like yours. I'll try to remember my camera...

Wow! Great Lookin Antelope.Just moved back to Idaho and I am getting settled in,will put in for Wyoming Antelope this coming year(2007)

I like hunting pronghorns, and they remind me of an early season-dove hunt.

Enjoyable as heck and a great primer in getting ready for the general hunting season.

And if the animule is killed and dressed and cooled well, the meat is often superb.

Nice looking sage goat.

MT, you may want to check your areas when you apply. I don't know about krshunter's area, but up around Gillette that buck would be the exception not the rule. I haven't seen a buck that good for probably ten years and the reason for it is, just an awful lot of hunters up here. We have a lot of goats, but you would be hard pressed to come up with something that good.

GSP, thanks for the advice. My buddy was hunting in the SW part of the state, near Rawlins. We might apply for that area and hunt the public land.

I spent a night in Gillette a week ago Saturday, had a good piece of beef at the Prime Rib. Nice people in your town.

Thats a good one for sure and I have seen several in SD taken this year in that range but the weather was in the 80's and most of the hunters went home with rotten meat I am sure.

I think for the most part this one was the exception and not the rule down here too. Saw several in the 14" to 15" range and our party took two both in there. We've had some pretty good luck down here the last few years not taking anything less than 14". I grew up around Rock Springs and have hunted nearly every area in the south half of the state. So far I'm more impressed with the east side than the west. Easier access on the west side but that also means more hunters and spooked game. South of Rawlins was particularly hard to get around with checker board ownership and limited cooperation from ranchers. They're most interested in making the big bucks letting outfitters hunt. Be happy to give any of you guys a hand looking for areas or helping on a hunt in this area if you draw a tag.

Fellow hunters, you will never get a better invitation than what krshunter gave you right here, and I applaud him for that. Not many people would be willing to add to the mass confusion of other hunters is his area.
I have been hunting for the last seven days and have run into two different groups that were having troubles with their hunts. One was a father and son who had applied for antelope. This particular area was devastated by blue tongue about ten years ago and is just now coming back. Well the G&F had left over permits and these guys grabbed two of them. They were from Wisconsin and really good guys and they asked for help, because our area is kind of checkerboarded to. So my son and I showed them what areas they could hunt and where they couldn't. To shorten my story we directed them to two bucks neither more than 13" but at least they didn't go home empty handed. The other guy was probably 56 years old hunting by himself and although a resident didn't know the area very well. The only place he knew of was a hole. A huge box canyon with trees in the bottom, three hundred foot sides with no way out but up. What's wrong with that you say? Nothing if you're young and have some help, but this guy is awaiting a liver transplant and when I say you have to put up stakes to see if he's moving, I'm not far off. So we showed him some of our spots that we hunt. The deer may not be as big, but at least he can get out and hunt it.
The point of all this is sometimes we as hunters need to help out our brothers in the sport and krshunter has just given you a prime oppurtunity and I thank him for that.
